A male who was hit by car that failed to stop is looked at by ST Johns. The male was crossing the intersection of Victoria Street and Queen Street when he was hit by what witnesses describe as a grey Honda possibly a Civic. A police man reports in while keeping a male pinned to the ground with his foot after armed police stopped the vehicle at about 2.45pm after it was reported that the male occupant was seen previously holding a pistol as it was being driven along Mariri Rd. The Eagle helicopter spotted the vehicle parked at an address in Baker Place and police stopped it when it left the address on Onehunga Mall by Hardington Street, Onehunga. Fire, St Johns and Police assist each other to help remove the driver of a vehicle that was trapped in his car after crashing in the forecourt of the Mobil Service Station on the corner of Mt Wellington Highway and Waipuna Road. The passenger is listed as status 1 and the driver is listed as status 2. Police say eyewitnesses saw up to three cars racing each other north on Waipuna Rd before the crash occured at the intersection. They were unsure if this car clipped another. Kong Chew Loo, the 73 year old who immigrated from China early last century and had to pay the Poll Tax - introduced in the late 1800s to limit entry of Chinese people into the country.
